the premise: a group of 20-something girls decide it would be fun to mail their favorite books to each other in an attempt to be well-read...it's like being pen-pals, only passing on a letter that was written by somebody else...

Heather's Pi-ku #2:
Sir Richard Parker.
He's not just a Taylor prof.
He's a Bengal Babe.
a bengal BABE??
heather, really i think that was a bit of a stretch.
Hannah, I think you need to re-read the syllable requirements of a haiku. Yours was screwed up. Perhaps:
What? A bengal Babe?
Heather, I really think that
was a flat out lie
Sorry again for pirating the site...Arrrrrr!
Ugh, somehow I lost my comment. Anyway...Hannah...btw, i meant no insult toward your entry. I was assuming that you were just posting a comment and not trying to make a haiku, but it was so close anyway that I thought it ironic. However, I was attacked this past weekend by members of this website making sure I know you're a poetry major or master or something and that I'm an idiot for criticizing your haiku, even if it was not supposed to be a haiku(though maybe it was). So, anyway, hope you didn't take it personally...just adding some life to the site. Especially since I'm not even supposed to be posting... ;-)
So, I finished Life of Pi and wow, I am afraid I will never look at the ocean the same again. I actually started reading in the bathtub one evening but as I progressed through it I was comforted being on dry land. I loved the book, am still gagging when I think of Pi trying out Richard Parker's turd, and wondering (rather morosely) whether or not I would have a strong will to live if I were marooned in the ocean for almost a year. All of this considered here is my haiku:
Strongest will to live
Pi, Parker, God, Turtles, fish,
I hate hyenas
